Scratch!!!

Pues cómo WTJ no tenia todos los barcos que necesito para la guerra qing-japonesa en stock, y me corre una cierta prisa que el proyecto no se me quede colgado, me he decidido a hacerlos desde 0, cón plasticard, masilla, varilla de cobre y cuerda de piano.
No es la primera vez que trabajo en esta escala, ya hice los tres cruceros de la clase reina regente, y quedé muy satisfecho, así que esta vez que tengo que hacer 9 barcos diferentes (Akitsushima, Chiyoda, Fuso, Hiei, Akagi, Jiyuan, Kwan Chia, Kwan Ping y el cañonero Petrel para la flota US, que salió demasiado pequeño en Tumbling Dice), espero no tener problemas

Mi proceso es el siguiente:
Rastreo por foros, paginas de blueprints, etc los planos necesarios. Si no hay planos (tipico en diseños raros o muy antiguos) busco las fotos más claras posibles o intento encontrar si alguien las ha hecho de scratch aunque sea en otras escalas. La cuestion es tener una idea clara de las dimensiones y proporciones generales, asi como de las formas de casamatas, torretas, etc. En este caso, el Jiyuan fue un dolor de cabeza, asi como los barcos japoneses mas antiguos (HIEI y FUSO)
Despues miro las dimensiones de eslora y manga, y las reescalo a la escala necesaria. Siempre hay que dejar un milimetro más cuando se cortan las piezas basicas del casco por primera vez. Hay que tener en cuenta que al limar las piezas para darles forma, se perderá material, y si cortamos muy justo podemos quedarnos con un barco de tamaño inferior, lo que puede dar una sensacion irreal.

My process is the following:
I track on forums, blueprints databases, etc, the necessary plans or diagrams. If plans are not found (common on weird or really old ships) I search for the more crystal clear photos of the ships or I try to find someone that made it even in a different scale. The idea is to have clear the proportions, dimensions and shapes of the turrets, casemates, etc. In this case, Jiyuan was a headache to find, and also the older japanese ships (HIEI and FUSO)
Then I look to the length and breadth, and I scale down then to the necessary scale. I always left one millimeter extra when I first cut the main hull shape. You have to keep in mind that with the sanding to shape the ship, you will lose a bit of material, and if we cut the pieces too adjusted, the ship could be undersized, giving a irreal feeling.
